Really? Really?
Oh God. I really do live in suburbia. We opened up our mailbox today to find the following letter:
Dear Neighbors,
On numerous occasions over the last few years, friends and neighbors have commented about the overall appearance of our neighborhood. Sadly, most commented the overall appearance or (sic) our neighborhood has chanced from a well-manicured appearance to something less.
The purpose of this letter is to ask each of our neighbors to review the appearance of your property and do what you can to help keep up the overall appearance of our neighborhood. It's well known that appearance improves the value of our property and improves our overall outlook about the neighborhood.
In the real estate business, one of the key factors in home pricing is something referred to as "curb appeal." this means the better your home looks from the curb, the higher your home value. In addition, your home's value increases based on your neighbors' home curb appeal, and that of the entire neighborhood.
Aside from the financial value of your home, there is great value in living in a neighborhood that looks well kept -- a neighborhood you can be proud to say you live in! A well kept neighborhood is inviting to all that drive through and to us that live here!
Please do your part to keep our neighborhood looking great!
Thanks!
Your Friends & Neighbors
So, aside from the word rep and overuse of exclamation points and the general tone of condescension...really? You want to leave that note anonymously? We're not the only ones who got it, but...come on, that's just asking for drama. And strife.
...And it's about lawn care.
