I had a surprise party today.
My sister picked me up from work and said that we had to meet my parents and neighbors at a restaurant for dinner, that my mom was making a big deal out of it, and even though she really didn't want to go, we had to. There's a reason, apparently, that my sister used to regularly get parts in plays.
We showed up and (almost) all of my friends were there. And it was amazing, and so much fun, and I don't think my real birthday's going to measure up at all. Because really, having that many people I care about in one room? It was just really great. And I guess my sister and mother have been putting this together for almost three months, handing my friends invitations when they came over and I was out of the room, and getting names from Liann and Kirsten. And even my neighbor/niece/cousin/little sister, who's four, managed to keep it a secret for three weeks.
So I'm kind of overwhelmed by emotion right now, but in a good way.
