Well, we took the cat to the vet, who pronounced it healthy and microchip-less. Also, unneutered. So we got it vaccinated, and...
I am now the proud owner of a somewhat unexpected cat.
Various upkeep-type things will be done over the next few days, and at some point we'll have to name him. This is very strange. I've never owned a cat before.
...I only just found out about cat hair in food. *g*
