Harry Potter post, huh? It's been a while.

Well, dressing up is always fun, especially when it involves really curly hair and an enormous amount of cleavage and pointy boots. (I was Madam Rosmerta, a character I chose solely for those three attributes.) And being fannish again was fun, as I haven't done anything remotely like it since...going to see Andrew Wilder in junior year, I think, and even that's not really the same feeling. It was just fun.

That said, the movie? Awesome. I absolutely hated the book, and I think the movie's my favorite. Go figure.

(Drop me a line on AIM and I'll gush in person. I'll be happy to gush in lj comments tomorrow.)

Your Rosmerta costume sounds fantastic! I always love it when people dress as minor characters--it's so much more unique and there's a lot of room to play around with the outfit. :)

Yeah, I really wish I'd taken pictures. It's easily reproducible, but I make it a point never to repeat a costume.

While I didn't dress up, unless we're counting green finger nail polish, we had a pretty good time last night, too.

I really liked the movie and thought the cinematography was extraordinarily gorgeous. And they finally managed to get the pacing right, too!

Yeah, we had some awesome cinematography discussions afterwards. (Have you ever tried saying the word "cinematographical" at 3:30 am on three hours of sleep? Not easy!)

Yeah, it was definitely my favorite of the movies. All of the romance was funny rather than gratuitously angsty, and you're right. They finally paced it right.

I was also shocked to discover I actually liked this movie, because rereading the book was an awful chore. This felt a little like 'Harry Potter 6: The Parts You Didn't Hate,' and I managed to giggle at the bits I DID loathe rather than cringe and whine over them. I'm finding reviews now pointing out awesome scenes I would have liked them to include, but overall I was really pleased and surprised when I left the theater (at 2:50am oh god).

Yeah. It's like they finally got the hang of which parts are necessary to understand the movie, which parts are good to throw in anyway, and which parts must never see the light of day.
